DERMONA

Claims to fame: Dermona is a line of herbal skincare products based on traditional Korean medicine. Created in 1980, it is based on a 500-year-old Korean manuscript called Donguibogam, which means Encyclopaedia of Oriental Medicines and Practices. As they are herb-based, Dermona's products are said to be gentler on the skin and are less likely to trigger allergic reactions. The brand is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for being the first to include Korean traditional medicines in its products.

Celebrity fans: Geum Bo Ra, who acted in the hit TV drama Jewel In The Place, uses its HMF Herb Cream ($440); Kim Young Ae, who played the chief dancer of the Joseon Court in the drama Hwang Jin Yi, likes the Herb Creams as well as the Wrinkle & White Care ($150); and Seon Woo Jae-deok, a veteran actor of more than 30 movies and drama series, is a fan of its Essence Nutrition lotion ($200).
